Accessibility Statement
Limerick Vet Clinic is committed to making its website accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA, the standard recommended by the Irish Department of the Environment, Climate and Communications for public-facing websites.
Compliance status
This website is partially compliant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. We are actively working to identify and resolve any remaining accessibility barriers. Known areas of ongoing improvement include third-party content (e.g., embedded maps) which may not fully meet accessibility standards — we are working with our suppliers to address these.
What we have done
Steps we have taken to improve accessibility on this site include:
- All pages use semantic HTML landmarks (
header, nav, main, footer) for screen reader navigation. - A "Skip to main content" link is available at the top of every page for keyboard users.
- All interactive elements (links, buttons, form fields) have visible focus indicators.
- All images used for informational purposes have descriptive alt text.
- Colour contrast ratios meet WCAG AA requirements (minimum 4.5:1 for body text, 3:1 for large text and UI components).
- The site is fully navigable by keyboard without requiring a mouse.
- All form fields have associated
<label>elements. - The site respects the
prefers-reduced-motionmedia query — animations are disabled for users who have set this preference in their operating system. - Text can be resized up to 200% without loss of content or functionality.
- Phone numbers are formatted as tap-to-call links for mobile users.

Technical specification
This website has been built with Astro and makes use of semantic HTML5, CSS custom properties, and container queries. It has been tested for keyboard navigation and screen reader compatibility using NVDA and VoiceOver. We test against current versions of Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge on desktop and mobile.
